An investigation on the out-core neutron flux in the Reactor TRIGA PUSPATI is carried out in this work to determine whether the thermal and/or fast neutron from the core would cause burn-up of the irradiated fuel stored in the same vicinity of the reactor core. The storage rack is positioned at 1 m from the central thimble.MCNPX code is used to calculate the fast and thermal neutron flux at 750 kW reactor power using 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm mesh while MATLAB model on 20 cm x 20 cm mesh model is used to plot the axial and radial distribution of the neutron flux density. The results show that the thermal neutrons occurred at  energy lower than 1 x 10-6 MeV and traveled to a maximum distance of 78 cm. The greatest flux for thermal and fast neutrons is 1 x 1013 n.cm2.s-1 and 5 x 1013 n.cm2.s-1 respectively.  The fission-rate of the fuel in the core is determined to be 3.18 x 1014 particle/s compared to 1.51 x 107 particle/s of the irradiated fuel in the storage rack. The burn-up of the fuel in the storage rack is in the order of micrograms and therefore is negligible. It is concluded that neutron flux from the core would not impart burn up effect onto the irradiated fuel stored at the storage rack in the reactor pool

The Internet has become the nerve of global communication and became a growing popularity and ubiquity of personal computers and Internet services and part of everyday existence at workplace, home and cybercafés environments. This study examines the effect of Internet (confine to E-mail) use as opposed to other communication media among women’s administrative staff in Malaysia and the United Kingdom. The two universities selected in this study are Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (henceforth UTeM), Malaysia and University of Brighton (henceforth UB), United Kingdom. This study is motivated by the desire to explore women’s Internet experiences concerning their use of Internet (E-mail). That is to say, its aim is to investigate effect of E-mail use as opposed to other communication media. The focus of the investigation is the use of E-mail patterns. Data was collected from a semi-structured interview and it was carried out among ten women of who are administrative staffs. The study revealed substantial differences on E-mail use between participants in the two countries. Keywords: internet, e-mail, women, university settings, Malaysia, United Kingdom

    Manual for pre-clinical removable prosthodontics

DENTURE PROSTHODONTICS ‘Complete denture prosthodontics’ is defined as that body of knowledge and skills pertaining to the restoration of the edentulous arch with a removable dental prosthesis. While ‘complete denture prosthetics’ is defined as: 1. the replacement of the natural teeth in the arch and their associated parts by artificial substitutes 2. the art and science of the restoration of an edentulous mouth The complete denture treatment is the restoration of a completely edentulous (no teeth) by an artificial substitute called “Complete denture” which is the replacement of the upper (maxillary) and lower (mandibular) lost teeth by an appliance that may replace the lost teeth and their associated adjacent structure. The complete denture treatment is a treatment that deals with a pathological case, of having no teeth that renders the patient lacking the function of cutting the food as well as being psychologically disturbed of having the cosmetic corruption of the appearance of the face by losing the muscular support of the facial expression. The complete denture could be considered unique when compared to other prostheses replacements in the body, since it deals with both function and appearance, or in other words it deals with the physiology and psychology. Replacing missing teeth is a technical as well as a clinical procedure, a denture cannot be thought of like any other part of the body that can be worn or fitted according to size as no denture of one patient can fit another patient’s mouth even if they were twins. 7 The clinical part of the treatment is to obtain the informative anatomical landmarks from the patient oral cavity by the dentist, and transfer it to the laboratory where the technical part is taken over by the technician. The clinical and the technical aspects of the complete denture fabrication have got an ample intermingling relation that makes the dentist as well as the technician, scientifically and technically attentive of the work of the other. The complete procedure of making a denture should be made clear to the dental student prior to the clinic attendance, thus preparing the student to be fully aware of both the technical (preclinical) as well as the clinical aspects of the treatment and by mastering both it will be possible to understand the sequential steps and their consequences

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Proteins that are associated with hypertension may be identified by comparing the 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) profiles of the sera of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) with those generated from normotensive Spraque-Dawley rats (SDR).</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Five proteins of high abundance were found to be significantly altered when the 2-DE serum profiles of the SHR were compared to those that were similarly generated from the SDR. Analysis by mass spectrometry and database search identified the proteins as retinol binding protein 4, complement C3, albumin (19.9 kDa fragment), alpha1 macroglobulin and alpha1 antiproteinase, which are all known to be associated with hypertension. The altered expression of the two latter proteins was found to be abrogated when similar analysis was performed on sera of the SHR that were treated with captopril.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Our data suggests that serum alpha1 macroglobulin and alpha1 antiproteinase are potentially useful complementary biomolecular indicators for monitoring of hypertension.</p

An effective and good communication abilities are central to accomplishment in numerous parts of life. Numerous occupations require solid communication abilities and socially individuals with enhanced communication abilities more often than not appreciate better interpersonal associations with other parties. Effective communication provides useful benefits to a person especially if he or she is working in an organization that requires a good relation with clients and customers. In the field of records management, we do not only manage records but with the current situation, this area requires us to deal with external parties such as government departments and private sector and also from the members of the public. For example, some information institutions centers require external customers or clients for income generation. Clients and customers should be treated well and this requires an effective form of communication from information professionals. Imagine if the clients had to deal with staffs who do not know how to communicate effectively, the client may run away to other information institutions and they will lose their financial resources. This makes the information professionals should have the skills to communicate well in order to maintain the reputation of their records. An information professional also deals with government officials and also members of the public during their daily task. All of this requires good personal communication skills. Information institutions often received visitors such as libraries, archives, record centers and museums and one such way to handle visitors effectively is by using a good communication skills

Determination of out-core fuel burnup in TRIGA PUSPATI

    Get PDF
The investigation was conducted on the out-core neutron flux and burn-up at irradiated fuel stored in TRIGA PUSPATI research reactor tank. This is required to examine whether the thermal and/or fast neutron flux can influence burn-up of the irradiated fuel stored in the same vicinity of the reactor core, the fuel rack being located 1 m above the core. MCNPX code was used to simulate fast and thermal neutron flux for the reactor operating at 750 kW. In this work, the computational model was created using MCNPX version 2.7 with the evaluated nuclear data file for thermal neutron scattering law data (ENDF7) cross-section data library and using a 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm mesh model. The results showed that the axial distribution for thermal neutrons occurred at energy lower than 1 x 10-6 MeV. Thermal neutron traveled at the maximum distance of 78 cm due to thermalization by moderator. Based on the maximum distance traveled by the thermal neutron, the thermal neutron did not reach the storage rack located 1 m from the core, hence there was no burn-up occurring at the irradiated fuel since burn-up can only occur in the thermal neutron region. For fast neutron, the axial distribution energy was higher than 1 x 10-6 MeV and traveled more than 158 cm. The reaction time for the fast neutron was too short to result in burn-up due to its fast travel
